ClydeUnion Pumps has recently won an order for more than $15m from China. The contract is for six advanced main feed water pumps and associated equipment for the Fuqing 3 & 4 nuclear power plant in Fujian Province in South West China. The order for advanced pumps is the first to benefit from a new UK government scheme, which helps banks to support UK exporters.

Invensys is to supply automation systems and services to TNK-BP ’s Saratov oil refinery in western Russia. The 7,000-ktpa unit supplies products, including gasoline, low-sulphur diesel, naphtha, vacuum gas oil, fuel oil and bitumen. Invensys will supply its Foxboro I/A Series DCS and Triconex emergency shutdown and critical control systems, plus measurement, instrumentation and control devices for the hydrofining and isomerisation units. It will also provide project management, documentation, engineering, delivery, installation, testing and start-up services, as well as training for the systems, covering development, commissioning and maintenance.

Hudson Oil , a Canadian downstream energy company, has acquired the historic Glimar refinery in Gorlice, southern Poland. It aims to restart the 3,500 barrels per day refinery, originally built in the 19th century. Wojciech Janowski, executive chairman, said: “The refinery has recently been retrofitted with Chevron-licensed all hydro-processing technology, installed by Lurgi GmbH. This creates possibilities for gasification and production of ultra-pure synthetic fuels.”

Lafarge is set to save $1.5 million a year through the use of Mobil SHC 600 lubricants and related application expertise, from ExxonMobil Lubricants , at two of its cement plants, the lubricants maker claims. (More on Process Engineering)

Two new Essent – part of RWE – power plants that are currently under construction, Claus C and Moerdijk 2. have undergone their ’first fire’. This means that the power plant’s gas turbine is put into operation for the first time - a step towards final completion of the power plants later this year (Moerdijk 2) and in mid-2012 (Claus C). Merck Serono has implemented Werum Software & Systems ’ PAS-X manufacturing execution system for the manufacture of solids and liquids at Merck Serono’s pharma plant in Mexico – a step towards it being the standard MES system for its global pharma operations. The new MES at the Naucalpan plant near Mexico City replaces a former paper-based production control procedures with an electronically-based process. A new weighing system replaces the current weighing system. The MES also interfaces with Merck Serono’s global SAP ERP system.

What Is Heartburn And How To Prevent It With Natural Vitamins And ...

Heartburn is a burning sensation and pain in the stomach and/or chest, behind the breastbone. Sometimes, it can be accompanied by bloating, gas, nausea, shortness of breath, and/or an acidic or sour taste in the throat. It is estimated that about 60 million Americans suffer from heartburn. Usually, this condition occurs when hydrochloric acid, which is used by the stomach to digest food, backs up into the esophagus, which is the tube between the throat and stomach. This causes sensitive tissues to become irritated.

In most cases, the esophageal sphincter muscle pinches it shut and prevents stomach acid from flowing upward. Unfortunately, if the sphincter is not functioning properly, the hydrochloric acid can slip past the sphincter and into the esophagus. This is known as gastro-esophageal reflux. Conditions that affect the esophagus and cause a reflux of stomach acids into the esophagus are now referred to as gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), instead of dyspepsia, chronic heartburn, or acid indigestion.

GERD can affect anyone at any age. This disease is responsible for scarring the esophagus. If the stomach acid is able to make its way into the lungs, it can cause asthma-like symptoms. GERD can also lead to a condition called Barrett's esophagus, which is characterized by changes in the cells lining the esophagus that can produce cancer.

Those people with a hiatal hernia often experience heartburn as well. It can be triggered by certain foods. Common trigger foods for heartburn include alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, citrus fruits and products, fats and fatty or fried foods, peppermint, spicy foods, and tomatoes and tomato-based foods. Gallbladder problems, stress, allergies, and enzyme deficiencies are other possible factors that can contribute to this condition.

The following nutrients are considered to be extremely important for dealing with and preventing heartburn/GERD. The dosages provided are for adults unless otherwise specified. For children between the ages of twelve and seventeen, the dosage should be reduced to 3/4 the recommended amount. Children between six and twelve should use 1/2 the recommended amount, while children under the age of six should use 1/4 the recommended amount.

Pancreatin should be used as directed on the label and taken with meals. This nutrient provides enzymes that are necessary for proper digestion.
