Rooney loss not to blame for lack of goals - Butcher
Terry Butcher does not believe the loss of striker Adam Rooney during the close season has had any bearing on Inverness failing to find the target in their opening two Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixtures.
Garry O'Connor 's stoppage-time goal gave Hibernian a 1-0 triumph at Inverness on Saturday, the defeat coming seven days after Caley Thistle lost 3-0 at Motherwell on the opening day of the season.
Rooney, Caley Thistle's top scorer for the past two seasons, opted to turn down the offer of a new contract at Inverness and instead made the move to Birmingham, but manager Butcher maintains the departure of the prolific frontman is not the reason why his team have yet to get off the mark this campaign.
Butcher said: "Adam Rooney played a lot of games for Caley Thistle in which he didn't score, so it's certainly not anything to do with that.
"Against Hibs we did everything but score. We hit the post - the third time we've done that this season - while I think we had a few cases in the Hibs match for penalties.
"I would be more worried if we were losing games and not creating chances, but that's not the case. I have seen enough belief and heart from our two performances so far this season to suggest that we'll bounce back. We've played some great football and there is a lot more to come from this squad.
