We continue celebrating July as National Family Reunion Month with the Martin Family Reunion and Akins/Aikens/Leeks Family Reunions in this week’s edition of The Weekly Challenger.

Martin Family Reunion

Bainbridge, GA - For the past 30 years, the Martin family has come together. It is always a rejuvenating experience to see relatives of every age enjoying their time together. July 8-10 was that time this year as the descendents of Mack and Bell Martin poured into Bainbridge, GA from various points across the USA. The relatives who traveled the farthest were Alvin Watford from upstate New York and his brother, Robert, from Missouri. The oldest relatives were Otis Douglas at 91, his younger sister, Lessie Crawford, his cousin, Leona Davis, and a couple of other cousins who are in their middle 80’s. Douglas and Crawford reside in Bainbridge and Davis is from Chicago, IL. Other relatives traveled from various cities in Florida and Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia, DC, New Jersey, New York, and Michigan.
The Friday night activities included food and fun. The buffet tables were laden with tossed salads, pasta salads, potato salad, corn on the cob, baked beans, string beans, chicken, barbequed ribs, and fish. Following the meal were games for all to enjoy. Once the group played group games that gave almost every table the opportunity to win a prize or two, the group split into separate rooms for adult games and children’s games. The adults played board games while some of the children’s games allowed more physical movement.
Saturday’s entertainment for the children included a visit to the Water World theme park in Dothan, AL. Adults shopped and caught up on family information. The highlights of the whole reunion, however, were the history lessons given by cousins, Dr. Hassan Kalim and Robert Wilson. Kalim, an author, historian, anthropologist, philosopher and college instructor, travels the world teaching martial arts and presenting history lectures. Wilson, who earned his bachelor’s degree in political science, was a teacher for a few years, but he became a builder when he realized that he liked both occupations, but there was a great difference in salaries. He has built structures throughout Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

In these hard times for Mother Earth and Mankind, it is very hard to keep our Spirits in line with the Heavens. To keep a tone to our Spirits, as we pass through the great fearful changes that we see happening all around us. But "KNOW", that it is extremely important that we keep our Spirits light. We must come to a place within our beings that is content. A place where we have taken it upon ourselves to let go of fear, hate, selfishness, anger and that we release worry. We must accept, that "All things happen with good in the end". If you have not taken the time to do so, please release grudges and hate. Release any fears you may have. Accept LOVE as it flows into your being. Look to Mother Earth, the creatures around you. Look to the hills, the meadows, brooks and streams. The ponds, rivers and the sky. Draw from all Nature the strength that you need to feel at peace with life. Know that this is love. Share the same energy with all people of the world.  "I am White Feather, a Hopi of the ancient Bear Clan. And soon -- very soon afterward -- Pahana will return. He shall bring with him the dawn of the Fifth World. He shall plant the seeds of his wisdom in their hearts. Even now the seeds are being planted. These shall smooth the way to the Emergence into the Fifth World. The Hopi Indians are the Record Keepers of the Native Americans. The Hopis call this the "The Fourth Age of Man". According to them the earth has been wipped clean 3 times already. First by Fire, next by Ice, most recently by the flood... approximately 11,000-12,000 years ago. Some believe that the actual date of the flood occured on June 5, 8498 BC. According to the Hopis we are about to enter "The Fifth Age", which they call "The World of Illumination", which seems to coincide with the dawning of the Age of Aquarius.
