Guide person wanted for blind dog Bud

HE’S a ‘lovely old guy’ who enjoys nothing more than getting his paws on a big juicy bone — but Bud the blind bull mastiff is facing an uncertain future.

Bud has been staying at Quarrybrae Kennels and Cattery near Ladybank for the past few months after his owner became ill.

Now he needs a new ‘guide person’ to give him a loving home, lots of attention and plenty of exercise.

Ron Bidgood, owner of Quarrybrae, said: “Bud is a lovely old guy and deserves the chance to enjoy more attention than we can give him.

“He gets four walks a day here and wanders around our secure play park, but time is limited for playing with him when we have 40 other boarders and six German shepherds of our own.”

Bud is a bull mastiff cross, about nine or 10 years old, and weighs 47kg.

He is in good health and finds his way around using his excellent hearing and sense of smell — he can even retrieve items thrown for him to fetch.

Bud’s greatest pleasure in life is a big meaty marrowbone.

Ron added: “The ideal home for Bud would be a weatherproof outdoor kennel with access to a large fenced lawn.

“If he was kept indoors he would be constantly in danger of bumping into things.

“It should be someone with time and energy to share with him as a guide on walks.

“Bud also loves meeting people and being fussed over.”
